Description
It was a long day of touring beautiful old churches rich with history. The day was hot and finding shade was definitely a challenge. I ducked into a small room of one of the churches an open stairway. A beam of sunlight streaming through an opening in the wall lay upon this plain wooden cross just inside the mouth of the alcove. This type of wooden cross is typically used in Catholic Churches on Easter with a purple drape to indicate the rising of Jesus Christ on the third day. Looking at this plain wooden object, highlighted by the sun reminded me that no matter how complicated life can become, beauty is all around us in the simple things.
