Description
As I went out to find something for Memorial Day, I came across this red chair with an American flag next to it, flying in the breeze. Immediately, I thought of all those soldiers who gave their lives for our freedom. Those men and women who won't be around to celebrate in the flesh but in spirit. This chair, to me, represents those fallen heroes. Why Battle-Worn for a title, you may ask. If you look closely, you will see that the red chair as many scars from past summers sitting on the pier. I left them in the image to represent all the battle scars that the men and women serving today suffer from, whether physical or mental.
Although you may not see anyone sitting there, be assured the spirit of the day will rest easy, knowing he or she is not forgotten by those who benefit from their ultimate sacrifice.
I textured this image to give a feel of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. The chair and flag have no texture as they are timeless in their own right.
