Description
Early evening light baths the Chiesa Del Santissimo Rentore of Venezia Italy in warmth and beauty. It was built in the 16th Century to celebrate the end of the Black Plague that had scourged Venice from 1575 to 1577. During that period of time, over 50,000 Venetians died of the plague. The Senate begged for divine intervention and promised to build a church dedicated to the Savior (Il Redentore). Today that beautiful church still stands in all its glory along the shores of the Venice canal as a reminder of that terrible time from which the Venetian people survived by the grace of God.
