Description
Venice is such a beautiful place to explore, with only two modes of transportation; by water and once on land, by foot. In an age where everyone seems to have some sort of motorized or wheeled transportation, it was empowering to simply walk to one's destination, even if it took some time to get there! These gondolas do not transport people from one place to another today but are used for sight-seeing tours. The Gondoliers are from families who have been in the business for generations in Venice. They take great pride in their heritage and work. It is no easy task learning how to maneuver those long, narrow boats, down canals that make one-way streets seem like wide thoroughfares in other cities! It is a life-time job for these gondoliers. Even their "uniform" seems unchanged from the early nineteen hundreds! This image has been textured to give a sense of timelessness to the image. Enjoy.
