Description
Chicago is well known for its famous Lake Shore Drive, which runs along the lakefront. On the north end of the city, Lake Shore Drive ends at Hollywood Blvd, just north of the historical Edgewater Beach Apartments built in 1927 (the pink building in the center). This structure is surrounded by more modern architecture both north and south of the building and when the sun comes out and hits the pink stucco, it becomes the center point of attention! Originally, there were more pink stucco structures, which encompassed the once world-class Edgewater Beach Hotel complex where movie stars and presidents stayed to take in the fresh, cool air coming off of Lake Michigan in the summer months. Before 1960, one could walk out the back door of the hotel and walk along the beach in the evening or take a cool swim in Lake Michigan Changes came when the city decided to extend Lake Shore Drive across the backside of the hotel, virtually cutting off its open access to the lakefront. Then, in 1967, the hotel was torn down; leaving the apartment complex the sole reminder of what once graced the Chicago lakefront.

Thank you Laurie. It was a perfect day for that spotlight lighting that nature sometimes gives.
