Description
On a morning walk up on the northern end of Maui at Kanapali, I was forced to notice this bird because of all the noise it was making as I strolled by. At first, I simply watched the bird and the longer I looked, the more singing it did for me. So, I walked as near to the bird as I could and took several shots. Every time I attempted to change the angle of the shot, the bird seemed to get very upset and would start making noise until I settled back into the position it apparently wanted! It posed for about five minutes while I was busy trying to capture its good side. I've never had a bird pose for me before and it was a lot of fun. This bird is called the Grey Francolin and is indigenous to the Hawaiian Islands. In the early morning hours, they act like roosters with their calls to each other until the sun comes up over the horizon. Enjoy
