Description
Most of us live in a world of motorized vehicles to get us where we want or need to go. In Venice, the mode of transportation is by boat or foot. No bicycles or motorized vehicles; just your feet. Making deliveries to the various stores located throughout Venice away from the waterway is done by pull cart or hand. I didn't appreciate the peaceful nature of this island until I was back in the noisy city life of my home. Narrow walkways lined with beautiful architecture everywhere you look, windows filled with flowers, wrought iron decorating balconies and tops of doors and windows, and old street lamps hanging from buildings are just a few things you would see should you decide to visit this unique place where old doesn't really meet new like it does in the rest of the world. Old buildings aren't replaced with new ones but are loved for their old charm. One steps back in time walking down its passageways that famous artists, courtesans, politicians, and citizenry roamed centuries ago. Gorgeous!
